Two dogs were rescued after being kidnapped and redeemed for more than $1 million

Police said Saturday that two men were arrested for theft and ransom in Switzerland.
Swiss police said in a press release that the dog’s owner, a 59-year-old Swiss man, returned to his apartment near Schlieren in Zurich on February 24 and found his two Bolonka dogs stolen. The thief left a ransomware letter asking CHF 1 million (about $1,135,271) to release the dog.
The American Kennel Club describes the Bolonka dog as a friendly, kind toy dog. The puppy is a member of the Bichon family and is kept as a pet. According to sales listed by AKC, the purchase of Bolonka Puppy costs between $1,500 and $3,000.

The dog’s owner has not been identified and is known as a policeman, who has begun investigating theft. They arrested a 30-year-old Norwegian man at Zurich Airport on Thursday. Police said a Norwegian man was about to leave the country. Police said he is now in custody in Switzerland.
Further investigation led to police travelling to Poland. Investigators determined that a 38-year-old Polish man was “presumably involved in theft.” Polish police arrested the man on March 5. Further investigations will be handled by Polish police, officials said.
Polish police found two dogs at home. The dog’s owner traveled to Poland and regained custody of canines on Friday.
