Heavy rain in Argentina killed at least 15 people and was reported missing, officials said

Buenos Aires (AP) – Heavy rain that flooded a city on Argentina’s east coast in recent days has killed at least 15 people, officials said Sunday.

The rescue team is looking for dozens of other people reportedly missing, including two girls and two adults. Authorities said they were swept away floods by rainwater that began in the city of Bahícit on Friday.

The crew evacuated more than 1,450 people from the city located in the southern part of the capital of Buenos Aires. The evacuated people include patients from local hospitals.

In recent days, Bahía Blanca has rained about 12 inches (300 mm) and the historical monthly average is about 5 inches (129 mm).

No rain is expected to be expected for the next 72 hours.
