late at night Host Seth Meyers continues to target White House Teslas Presidents Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s “desperate, embarrassing commercial TV”, introducing the first few clips that significantly demeaned electric cars over the past few years.
Tesla staged a personal showroom for Trump on the White House lawn on Tuesday, with the president showing the purchase of a new M-shaped lattice to cope with the company’s share price drop. Trump’s purchase and promotion of the car was intentionally supported by his close allies and Tesla CEO Musk. As Meyers noted, it also flew in the face of Trump’s anti-electronic vehicle stance that he maintained for years.
“It’s not just blatantly corrupt,” Meyers said. “But this whole gambit, it all depends on Trump convinced his Mecca supporters to spend months telling them the campaign’s ‘EV sucking.”’
He then began playing a series of Trump clips, and the current president claimed that “they didn’t go very far, they spent a sum of money” and “they didn’t work in the cold.”
“Oh yes, these guys sound like they’re going to buy a Tesla,” Meyers quipped in response to the crowds of people at past Trump rally booed electric cars.
