A British man was killed in a crash involving a vehicle in a convoy of Kenyan President William Ruto.
The man was named Edgar Charles Frederick, 79, who was beaten on Thursday on a major road in the capital Nairobi.
After the incident, police investigated and arrested the driver of a support vehicle, which was part of President Ruto’s official car fleet.
Police spokesman Michael Muchiri told the BBC that Mr Frederick had been visiting Kenya and saw his sister and nephew were residents of the country.
The victim’s near-marriage has been told that a autopsy may be conducted later on Friday.
Police said drivers who failed to stop after the accident will appear in court after investigation.
A spokesman for the UK High Commission said officials were aware of the reports and were seeking more information.
Video posted on social media shows a man in blue jeans and a light-colored shirt bleeding on the road outside a busy shopping area.
Other images show the victims being covered by the shawls examined, locally known as Maasai Shuka.
Mr Muchiri told the BBC that the vehicle belonged to the regional government and supported the presidential details.
President Ruto held the incident Thursday near the scene of the accident as part of an ongoing political campaign with the capital’s public.
