Thousands of people invest more in the German industry
On the National Action Day organized by the Alliance IG Metall, thousands of industrial workers were displayed in several German cities on Saturday.
They called for measures to strengthen the industry and ensure employment, facing the deterioration of the industry, and paying more attention to the safety of the workforce.
Unions want to invest more from politicians and companies, and support for innovation and future technologies.
“Without industry, Germany is a poor country, we will not allow it,” IG Metall leader Christiane Benner said in a statement.
The union hopes employers will deal more with the atmosphere of cuts, relocation and lack of investment.
“We can shape the future, we can create new technologies, we can create green industries. Now we want to do this!” Benner said.
She said it was great that it might be the new German government that had already understood and was seeking to promote innovation and defense. “But there is no special fund in fact, and it’s not clear yet.”
She said all political forces must now assume responsibility to ensure that the central project does not fail.
The demonstrations were accompanied by performances by well-known bands and artists, which may have played a role in improving attendance.
These events occurred in Hanover, Stuttgart, Cologne, Frankfurt and Leipzig. IG Metall describes it as the league’s largest public action in decades.
The union said, “My workplace. Our industrial country. Our future!” The numbers cannot be verified.
The country’s economy has been working to recover from the consequences of the pandemic and the Ukrainian war, which has suffered a recession for two consecutive years. The downturn is also affecting the industry.
