President Trump said he plans to talk to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday about the end of the war in Ukraine after three years of Russian invasion of its neighbors.
“A lot of work has been done over the weekend. We want to see if we can end this war,” Trump told Air Force reporters a Sunday night. “Maybe we can. Maybe we can’t, but I think it’s very possible.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the plan Monday morning, but did not provide further details.

“We’re going to talk about land. We’re going to talk about power plants. That’s a big problem,” Mr. Trump said. “But I think we’ve discussed a lot in both Ukraine and Russia.
Russia illegally annexed four regions after a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, which is not fully controlled: Donetsk, Luhansk, Hosen and Zaporizhiya. Zaporizhzhia is the location of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant.
Russia also annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014.
