According to five people familiar with the matter, Elon Musk has provided the largest allowable donations to members of Congress, supporting impeachment federal judges, who are blocking President Trump’s actions.
Mr. Musk made the biggest hard donation to the campaign of seven Republicans who endorsed the judicial impulse or demanded some form of “action” on recent rulings against the Trump administration, including the weekend ruling of James E. Boasberg of the Washington Federal District Court. The federal election has a joint limit of $6,600.
On Saturday, Judge Boasberg ordered the government to reverse the plane carrying Venezuelan gang member El Salvador and return it to the United States. The government’s failure to comply with the order has raised concerns about a constitutional showdown.
Mr. Trump then said on social media that Judge Boothberg should be impeached.
Mr. Musk contributed Wednesday to Arizona representatives, Lauren Bobert of Colorado, Andy Ogles of Tennessee, Andrew Clyde of Georgia, Derek Van Oden of Wisconsin and Brandon Jill of Texas. He also donated to Sen. Charles E. Grassley, Republican of Iowa, according to two people briefing the matter.
Mr. Jill proposed an improvisation clause against Judge Boasberg after a judge issued an interim order that prevented Trump from invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport Venezuelans.
Ms Boebert said she supports the impeachment article against Judge Boasberg, a position that Mr Musk praised on his social media site X.

“We didn’t do that, so Elon Musk would give us money,” Mr. Crane said in an interview shortly after learning about Musk’s donation. “But I think it’s great to have individuals like Elon support behind those of us who are willing to act.”
Democrats believe Mr. Crane is vulnerable to his 2026 reelection campaign.
Mr. Clyde said he “had not known in advance that Elon Musk would donate the campaign”. He added: “I’m so grateful to him for doing it.”
Mr. Ogles proposed a resolution that allowed Mr. Trump to serve a third term, and he said he was “honest” to get Mr. Musk’s support. “His dedication is not only commendable – it is crucial to the future of our Republic,” he said.
Mr. Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
On Wednesday, Mr. Musk wrote on X: “For more than two centuries, people have never had extreme abuse of the legal system like activists pretending to be judges. Impotence each.”
He earlier called their decision a “judicial coup.”
The contribution to the relatively safe Republican incumbent sent a message to Mr. Musk’s willingness to help lawmakers support Trump’s agenda. They highlighted Mr. Musk has been using the potential of his support to advance Mr. Trump’s goals, including those many Republican lawmakers have always wanted to avoid, such as impeachment judges.
The donation from Mr. Grasley, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is particularly noteworthy. Mr. Grassley did not call on impeachment judge Boothberg, but condemned the deportation decision and recommended the Senate to take action.
Mr. Grasley wrote on X: “One other day, another judge unilaterally decided the policy of the entire country. This time it was to benefit foreign gang members, and if the Supreme Court or Congress did not resolve it, we would be engaging in a constitutional crisis. The Senate Judiciary took action.”
Mr. Musk has already recognized the concept of impeachment. But the phone number has been upgraded in recent days. Mr. Trump has long criticized the judge, saying he tried to undermine his authority and called for the same power.
“This judge is like many curved judges, I should be impeached!!!” Mr. Trump wrote in Tuesday’s social media website truth social networking.
Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. added: “The normal appeal review process is for this purpose.”
Mr. Musk’s efforts on behalf of Mr. Trump will certainly strengthen Congress’ attempts to please billionaires, as well as Tesla’s billionaires owners and the president, as well as impeachment hearings for judges they consider hostile to the government’s agenda.
Of course, Mr. Musk can also follow up with more money to external groups in support of efforts that are not limited by contribution. He spent nearly $300 million on the 2024 election, and his super PAC has pledged to focus on the 2025 game.
