Strong earthquake rocks are the Thai capital of Bangkok and Myanmar

Bangkok – A strong magnitude 7.7 earthquake rocked the Thai capital on Friday, causing buildings to sway.

The temporary temblor is at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), the epicenter of neighboring Myanmar, according to the German GFZ Center for Earth Sciences.

No immediate injury or casualties were reported.

The Greater Bangkok area is home to more than 17 million people, many of whom live in high-rise apartments.

Many buildings were evacuated while swaying in rare earthquakes.

Residents who were startled were pouring out from high-rise apartments and hotels in densely populated central Bangkok. They stayed on the street, seeking shadows from the noon sun within minutes after the earthquake.

The earthquake is powerful enough to shake with the tremor, and some elevated pools emit water.

The center of the shaker is located in central Myanmar, about 50 km (30 miles) east of Moniva City. The impact of the earthquake on Myanmar in the middle of the civil war was not immediately reported.
