former The real housewife in Beverly hills Star, 43, received the final radiation treatment on Thursday, April 3 and marked the occasion by ringing the hospital’s cancer bell.
Mellencamp recorded the moment with his Instagram story Thursday. In the video, the reality star said she received a “graduation thesis” and read it from a plaque under the bell. She then called the bell three times before hugging and celebrating with her friend off-camera, who congratulated her.
“Ringing the bell can indicate the main treatment phase – today is the last day of my radiation,” Melenkamp wrote on the video. “There are 5 rounds of immunotherapy.
Earlier Thursday, the podcast host’s “Two TS” podcast host updated her cancer treatment. “Today was a very important day,” she said in the video. “Today should be the last day of my radiation, it should be last week, but then they found four tumors that were annoying.”
Staying up in spirits, Mellencamp wore a yellow T-shirt that read: “I’m a ray of sunshine.”
“I’m wearing a beautiful shirt…just in case I can ring the bell,” she said. “I feel good.”
Mellencamp first revealed in February that she will undergo surgery for multiple brain tumors. She has been receiving treatment since then and revealed that in late March, doctors found four other tumors in their brains.
“I’m fighting for my life,” Melencamp told US Weekly Only in our latest cover story, “but also the life of my family and everyone I love.”
Brave alumni added: “This is definitely the hardest thing to do [I’ve faced in my life]but it doesn’t feel too difficult now. When I entered the ICU, it was very difficult because I had no memory. One day, I realized it was my daughter’s birthday and I couldn’t be there. It’s really sad. It’s still sad when I can’t go there for the kids as I usually do. ”
Mellencamp also shared that she has been dealing with her health issues by embracing humor.
“Everyone wants me to be super positive all the time. One of my coping mechanisms is irony,” she explained. “I would rather joke and have the best results than deny it completely and break my heart.”
