Local favorite Dylan Naidoo wins South Africa opening in playoffs

On Sunday against England’s Laurie Canter, local favorite Dylan Naidoo won the Rainforest-stop South African Open on the first playoff hole in the playoffs.

Naidoo and Canter led the game after a 14-shot low in the third round and were first eliminated after the fourth round due to rain.

The 27-year-old Naidoo, ranked 466th in the world, ranked 18 with 18 shots after pitching to the green court, which almost made him top his head.

“It feels like a dream, it’s overwhelming,” Naidu said. His Indian heritage has made him a crowd of Durban with a large Indian community.

“Yesterday I felt like I was Tiger Woods playing there and there were a lot of people supporting me.”

The second and third rounds were completed on Saturday. The final round started at 6.10 a.m. local time, but only Chris Paisley played alone to finish his round and then paused after three hours.

Then, it was decided to give up the round and let the co-leaders win the title after the rain cleared in the afternoon.

Reuters contributed to the report.
