The German Chamber of Commerce of China (AHK) sees Beijing’s 5% growth target this year as a positive sign for German companies.

Oliver Oehms, a board member of China’s AHK, said on Wednesday that more signs of stability and action are being conveyed.

“This is good news for German companies in China – they especially want to have a stimulus impact on domestic demand, which has been a reason for the attention,” Oehms said.

At the opening of the National People’s Congress in Beijing, Prime Minister Li Qiang announced that the economic growth target was “about 5%”, just like he did last year. This indicates continuity, oehms said.

Observers see the plan as ambitious due to economic issues and global trade disputes.
