Albanian leaders are stuffed into garbage

The world’s first government official is working hard and what anyone can expect.

Yesterday, virtual assistant “Diella” delivered an “inauguration speech” to the Albanian parliament. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the software (appointed by Edi Rama last week as Minister of Public Procurement) has been furious by some officials.

The chaotic video shared by Albanian media group Report TV Show opposition lawmakers the chaos of throwing bottles and tables at the prime minister and his cabinet members after a previous attempt to block the address failed.

“This marks the end of the first session of the new legislature,” the video title reads.

In his “speech” (if you can call it) Diella targets opponents who protest appointments on constitutional grounds.

“Some people call me ‘unconstitutional’ because I’m not a human,” the plan said. “Let me remind you that the real danger to the Constitution is never a machine, but an inhuman decision by those in power.”

The Opposition Party is the Albanian Democratic Party (PD), a conservative organization that swings slightly less than the ruling party, namely the Socialist Party of Albania, a democratic socialist group.

Both camps are facing a widespread corruption struggle that was carried out by the market economy in the early 1990s. Initially, Rama appeared to have the idea of AI ministers as a mocking threat – as if to draw attention to the urgent task of resolving political corruption, which was seen as key to Albania’s accession to the EU.

But with a surprising move, the Prime Minister continued to move forward, after all, appointing Diella’s cabinet and taking full control of all public contracts. Rama asserted that this would make government logistics “100% corruption-free”, adding that “every public fund submitted to the tender process will be completely transparent.”

Not everyone shares his optimism.

PD official and former Prime Minister Sali Berisha said: “The goal is nothing more than to attract attention. It should be noted that opposition leaders have been trapped in their own corruption scandal.

Belisa continued: “Who will control Dillar? Dillar is unconstitutional and the Democrats will take the matter to the Constitutional Court.”

Diella started out as a text-based virtual assistant, aiming to help citizens through the government’s E-Albania portal through the government’s e-service platform. Its “AI” component was developed by the Albanian National Information Society or Akshi using Microsoft language models.

So far, the program has only promoted the process of paperwork and information between government officials and citizens. Whether it can independently compete for the task of public procurement for 3.1 million countries.
