Woman admits killing former partner is running after killing firefighter’s wife
A California woman admitted to killing her estranged husband more than two decades ago and is now wanted by a fatal stabbing by federal authorities, a law enforcement official said Monday.
The U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force is trying to join Yolanda Marodi, 53, in connection with Rebecca Marodi, 49, last week, who is a state’s field firefighter Captain of the bureau, Lieutenant Michael Kruger, San Dieago Sheriff, in an email.
Rebecca Marodi found multiple stab wounds on February 17 at her home in Ramona, northeast of San Diego. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The possible motive for the killing is not yet known.
Rebecca Marodi worked in the California Forestry and Fire Department for more than three decades, starting in 1993 in a district east of Los Angeles. She was promoted to captain in 2022.

NBC San Diego reported that she has been married to Yolanda Marodi for more than two years. A photo from Rebecca Marodi’s Facebook page showed them on Cidery on the birthday of Yolanda Marodi in December.
According to NBC San Diego, Yolanda Marodi had previously admitted to killing her estranged husband, James Olejniczak.
The station reported on Monday that she had sought custody of the couple’s children, filed in months before her death, and claimed that irreconcilable disagreements were the cause of the divorce.
Yolanda Marodi, then known as Yolanda Olejniczak, pleaded guilty to voluntary murder in 2004 and was sentenced to 13 years in prison for the charge and possessed drugs or Alcohol, a spokesperson for the California Department of Calibration, said Rehabilitation.
She was released in 2013 and was released until 2015, according to a spokesperson.
