Amazon will use AI to generate reviews for book series on Kindle
Amazon’s new features can make it easier to get into the latest version of the series, especially for a while since you’ve read previous books. The new review feature is part of the latest software update for Kindle, which the company compares to the “Previous…” segment where you can watch TV shows. Amazon announced a review in a blog post that says you can access it after receiving software updates over the air or downloading them and installing them on the Amazon website. Amazon has not talked about the technology behind the feature in its post, but a spokesperson has confirmed TechCrunch The review will be generated by AI.
Shortly after the feature was launched, users talked about it on social media, wondering if Amazon is using generative AI to write a series summary. They expressed concerns about the use of generative AI, especially about the possibility that the illusion element of technology is not actually in the book. “We use technology including Genai and Amazon hosts to create a short review of books that accurately reflect the content of the book,” Amazon spokesman Ale Ale Iraheta told the publication. “Iraheta assured TechCrunch Amazon’s review is accurate, but of course, use it yourself.
Currently, Recaps features are available for the best-selling English book series on a variety of Kindle devices in the United States. To know if there is one of your favorite series, look for the View Review button in the series page in the Kindle library. It will also be used soon for Kindle apps on iOS.
