Among a top Colombian commander, 8 members of powerful cartels were shot dead for several days

Eight members of Colombia’s largest cartel clashed with security forces, the Army said Tuesday.
A few days after the death of a high-ranking Gulf clan Capo, the military said it killed several members of the cartel and was captured by two prisoners in an operation in the northwest of the country. In social media posts, the Army said it also captured “a large amount of war materials and supplies.”
The Gulf Clan was born from the 1990s with the right-wing paramilitary group of left-wing guerrillas – in shifting attention to Cocaine trade.
Now, they are a criminal force, smuggling on the northern border with Panama through drug trafficking, illegal excavation, extortion and immigration smuggling.

According to government estimates, cartels are considered to be between 6,000 and 9,000 members.
The Colombian government has launched a series of attacks on the group since peace efforts stagnated.
The Gulf Clan is one of several cartels recently designated by the United States as a foreign terrorist organization. In 2022, the Gulf Clan closed dozens of northern northern Colombia towns to reflect its leaders Extradition to the United States for trial.
Police and DEA killed one of the five commanders of the cartel on Saturday, alias “Chirimoya”.
At the end of last month, air strikes killed nine suspected cartel members.
