An unhinged, raunchy action-comedy revival that delivers unimaginable laughs every minute

The only collateral damage in this traditional sequel is your side, which will be caught in submission as you laugh throughout the scene thanks to Liam Neeson’s deadpan delivery and Pamela Anderson’s commitment.

His tech tycoon employer Richard Cain (Danny Huston) immediately becomes the prime suspect.
Crime novelist Beth teams up with Frank, and the pair aim to solve Simon’s death using whatever police squad resources they can muster. As the layers of corporate corruption peel back, Frank and Beth form a romantic relationship, which complicates matters when the going gets tough. Thankfully, they keep their eye on the prize and save the world in classic police squad style, leaving a trail of collateral damage in their wake.
The Naked Gun series has always been a numbers game

Puns, both visual and verbal, appear in rapid succession, and recurring jokes appear with insane frequency. I’ve lost count of the number of times Frank and Captain Ed Hawken Jr. (Paul Walter Hauser) throw stale coffee cups off the screen, only to be handed a fresh cup by an unseen contributor.
Liam Neeson deserves a ton of credit for his willingness to deal with everything head on, something that would make Leslie Nielsen proud. His action hero training of the past two decades is clearly paying off, giving him a Brian Mills aura throughout the film. His icy visage works perfectly with Pamela Anderson’s more overtly slapstick performance, creating a high-level comedy that manages to keep a straight face while forcing the audience to hold back their laughter lest they miss the next punchline.
Considering how much stuff is packed inside naked gunnot every joke lands. The bit about Bill Cosby’s private collection of champagne that immediately makes Beth reconsider taking a sip is funny, but it packs more of a punch when the jokes aren’t topical. I don’t mind jokes at Cosby’s expense, and it’s well-earned, but The Naked Gun series is sharper than that. Topical humor ages quickly when its relevance to the real world wears off. Fortunately, such moments are rare, and we mostly encounter in-universe jokes that are specific to the novel at hand and more commonplace.
For fans of the original trilogy, this is a sequel worthy of the legacy
naked gun Successful because it doesn’t pretend to be what it is. Its storyline is intentionally simple, which allows the laughs to take center stage. You know where the mystery is going, and the point is to enjoy the absurdity of the journey rather than the destination. The film also has great rewatch value because the pacing is so frenetic that you miss the jokes the first time you watch it. You’ll be too busy laughing at whatever you saw seconds ago.
