Anthony Rizzo retires – MLB Trade Rumors

Bear announced Anthony Rizzo Will retire as a cub and will receive honors this Saturday at Wrigley Stadium (club hosting the ray). He will also serve as ambassador for the organization. ESPN’s Jesse Rogers is one of the things that conveys the news.

Rizzo, 36, is part of some of his career different organizations, but will always be primarily known as the cub. He spent most of his career in Chicago. As the team became a regular contender in the second half of the past decade, his core work is his core work. The highlight was in 2016, when the Cubs eventually won the World Series, breaking the 108-year drought.

After that year, people talked about the potential dynasty on the north side of Chicago, the young core of Rizzo, Kris Bryant,,,,, Javier Baez,,,,, Willson Contreras and Jorge Soller It is controllable, affordable, and powerful. The top of the spin has appeared for many years and Jon Lester,,,,, Jake Arrieta and Kyle Hendricks All of these are direct prime numbers and long-term signature/control. The Cubs do have competitive every year for the rest of the decade, but they fell into the Dodgers in the 2017 NLCS and have not surpassed the playoffs since.

Before that legendary run, Rizzo had to go through several other places first. He was selected by the Red Sox, a high school graduate, in 2007. After working in the minor league system in Boston for a few years, he was sent to Padres in a December 2010 deal, becoming one of the players he sent Adrián González Go to Sox.

Rizzo made his major league debut with Friars in 2011. He climbed the plate 153 times in 49 games, but eliminated 30.1% of the time and produced the .141/.281/.242 line.

Entering 2012, Padres decided to move in a different direction. They sent Pad Lass The Reds to four players, one of them is Yonder Alonso. With Alonso going to cover San Diego’s first base, they sent Rizzo and right-handed Zach Cates To the bear for the right one Andrew Cashner And outfielders Kyung-Min Na.

That Gambit was obviously not eliminated for San Diego. Despite Cashner’s success in Padres, Alonso never found his motivational stroke in Petco Park and won an average offense in parts of four seasons. Yasmani Grandalalso obtained in this exchange, struggled in San Diego and was sent to the Dodgers Matt Kemp trading.

Meanwhile, with all these performances, Rizzo exploded with one of the top No. 1 baseball baseball tops. In 10 seasons with the Cubs in 2012-21, Rizzo beat .272/.372/.489 with 242 home runs. He formed three All-Star teams, won four gold gloves, won silver medals for five consecutive seasons, and won MVP votes, including a straight pair of fourth place in 2015-16, when he released the .285/.386/.528 batting line (145 WRC+) and at 63 Home Runs (145 WRC+) (145 WRC+) (145 WRC+) (143 HOMER RUNS) (332 in”””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””” Rizzo struggled in the 2016 NLD but broke out in the NLC and World Series, north of the 1.000 OPS between the two series, three home runs and five doubles.

However, as the Cubs’ core continues to stagnate, the front desk finally determined that changes needed. Rizzo, Bryant and Baez all traded to the Mets, Baez, Bryant, Brizzo and Yankees’ Rizzo in the summer of 2021. Rizzo’s game against the Yankees continued to be good and played a key leadership role, all of which convinced the team to re-sign his two-year contract and chose the third season option.

Rizzo went on to spend the final three full seasons of his career in the Bronx, hitting well in 2022 before slipping to about average in 2023 and struggle through injuries in 2024. His time in New York wasn’t nearly as productive, but he logged an overall .234/.326/.409 line as a Yankee and popped 32 home runs in his first full season in pinstripes.

All in all, Rizzo’s outstanding career will end his life’s .261/.361/.467 batting line. He hit 303 home runs in the Grand Slam, scoring 922, 965 cards, and even swinging 72 bases. Rizzo is one of only 164 players in Major League Baseball history, able to reach 300 professional home runs. His 338 doubles ranked 352nd, with Brady Anderson,,,,, Matt Williams,,,,, Robin Ventura and the above Kemp.

Rizzo also won 241 playoff appearances, and his .225/.328/.397 line doesn’t match his regular season excellence, but is biased by his cruel performance in the 2015 playoffs. Starting with the NLCS breakthrough in 2016, Rizzo hit .260/.367/.455 in the last 180 laps of the playoffs.

Through an early career extension with the Cubs, and a free agent deal re-signed with the Yankees in the 2021-22 offseason, Rizzo earned over 127mm in parts of 14 seasons. Fangraphs valued his career victory with a 35.9 victory, while baseball quotes were even more bullish in the 40.4 War. Rizzo is unlikely to be the boundary of Cooperstown, but he will be remembered as the cornerstone of the iconic era of the Cubs franchise and is a solid veteran pickup who helped drive some of the competitive Yankees clubs. No matter what you do in the next chapter, send your best wishes to Rizzo and his family.
