Apple Watch might get a camera, but not for the reasons you think

The new report says Apple Watch will buy a camera in the future, but if you plan to use the video (James Bond Style), you may be disappointed.

In the latest version of the newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman (via 9to5mac) wrote that Apple is working to turn its watch into “AI device with cameras.”

The camera will reportedly enable the watch to “see the outside world”, meaning it can use Apple’s visual intelligence technology to collect information about the outside world to help wearers complete various tasks. For example, think about passing through the train station and getting a day’s schedule.

Mixable light speed

Both the regular Apple Watch and Apple Watch Ultra are ready to use the camera, although in different locations. On the Apple Watch, the camera can be located under the display of the device, on the Ultra, which is on the side, next to the watch’s crown and side buttons.

Gurman claims that cameras such as FaceTime conversations are more pronounced, which is not part of Apple’s plan.

We have heard similar rumors about Airpods that may also get AI cameras in the future.

None of this will happen anytime soon, though. Gulman said the Apple Watch will not get a camera until at least 2027, and the camera-enhanced AirPods won’t get a camera, either.
