It’s one of the worst secrets in the world of golf equipment, and now there are rumors that are realistic: Jon Rahm’s Liv Golf team Legion XIII has signed a deal with Callaway Golf.
The agreement – undisclosed terms – is not only because one of the best golfers in the world is among them, but also because it represents the first time the major equipment manufacturer has signed with LIV. It also shows that LIV and its team are pushing regardless of the status of the LIV-PGA Tour negotiations.
I have a lot of insight to add when the time is right, but there is no doubt that the deal is hovering in unknown waters. Callaway CEO Chip Brewer never thought out of the box (full disclosure: he hired me four years ago), and working with Liv has more evidence that he and his company are willing to take risks.
“We are committed to becoming equipment leaders anywhere the top players compete,” Brewer said in a press release. “It’s time to solidify our relationship with Jon and his team right – using his outstanding talents and figure in the game to help attract and inspire fans around the world.”

Rahm continues to play the Callaway Club since leaving the PGA Tour to LIV at the end of 2023. He wore the Callaway logo in the first two LIV events of the year, suggesting an upcoming partnership.
“My equipment has played the best golf in my career over the last four years and they continue to set the standard higher on every new product line,” Ram said in a press release. “I know this partnership will have a huge positive impact on me and my teammates.”
Ram initially signed with Callaway in 2021 and quickly verified the company’s investment at Torrey Pines’ 2021 U.S. Open. He is the No. 1 player in the world and won the second major title in the 2023 Masters.
Espanyol ranked first in LIV’s individual standings in 2024, with his team ranked second in team competitions, behind Bryson DeChambeau’s overwhelming.
