Audi’s refreshed RS E-Tron GT performance brings shocking speed at premium price
The 2025 Audi E-Tron GT RS performance has a special way to welcome you. It usually shows flashing headlights and taillights as you approach, as well as puddle lights that cast the red RS logo on the ground. Nothing special these days. But when you reach the door and reach for the handle, the car literally rises to meet you, popping up two inches to ease your entry into this super low, very long sporty visitors.
At least, if you spend an extra $11,000 on the new active suspension, this is a well worthwhile addition to this $167,000 sports car, and only one of the Audi upgrades that have made dozens of upgrades to the big performance machine in 2025. And, these upgrades are so upgraded that these upgrades are so big, because from the outside, the car looks almost nothing compared to the previous ones.
Audi massages the front grille a little while the diffuser projected from under the rear bumper looks cleaner than before. Nevertheless, it is difficult for you to distinguish new things from a distance or from a close distance. The biggest exterior change is probably the roof of the E-Tron GT, which is now available for shiny or matte carbon fiber. Or, if you’re more interested in sunlight than saving weight, you can choose a new glass roof with nine separate integrated LCD panels that can be touched opaque by button.
If you feel you need to impress your friends, make your conversation a little fun, but the 912 horsepower on the Tap will surely take care of it. Fired launch control, even the most exhausted motor will be completely breathless. The E-Tron GT RS performance rocket goes from zero to 60 mph in just 2.4 seconds, a world-class number, but what is more impressive is how it develops. I had the opportunity to drive the car over 130 mph (on the closed track), and the feeling was on the boundary between excitement and horror. The troops squeezed me into the (thankfully) sports seats (very supportive) that made my animal brain scream for a sweet release.
However, this is not the only idea that happens here. The new active suspension can be set to actually tilt the car to the corner while dipping into the nose under acceleration and lowering the tail when pressing the brakes. It’s all about creating a more stable, predictable platform that allows you to work hard to drive your car without losing patience or lunch.
In any case, the capabilities of the RS E-Tron GT performance are absolutely significant. Quickly twitch your toes enough to make them jump forward, and during those special moments you can get an extra 94 horsepower by pressing the big red boost button on the steering wheel.
Unfortunately, this is the only benefit of the steering wheel. For this new E-Tron GT, Audi moved to the type of capacitive touch buttons that everyone hates on the Volkswagen ID.4. Whenever I turn left, I keep increasing the volume of the stereo. That’s not good.
The rest of the interfaces are roughly the same as before, with the 10.1-inch touch screen in the middle of the dashboard at an angle. It’s running Audi’s MMI software, though, which is a bit sluggish at times. Still, between the touch screens, the virtual cockpit digital gauges behind the wheels and the HUD projected on the windshield, you have no shortage of monitors you appreciate.
The rest of the cabin also has largely remained unchanged, which is not a bad thing. The front seats are supportive but comfortable, can be done in all the right ways, can be heated and ventilated, and sit low enough in the car to provide enough headroom. The seating is also nice at the back, and one department in the battery pack provides some extra legroom, providing room for the rear passenger feet.
The rear seat layout is the same as before, but while the battery pack is in the same shape, you will find all kinds of novelty to turn on. Audi changed the chemistry of cells, coupled with some design revisions, to enhance energy density, which means higher capabilities in the same space.
Now the battery provides 105 kWh of total capacity (95 net), which is up from the previous 93.4, while other changes improve charging speeds. Once upon a time of 270 kW, the maximum charging current was up to 320 kW, and now the battery can keep its speeds in a wider temperature range. The result is an 80% charge in just 18 minutes. It’s worth about 240 miles in the time it’s time to stop yourself.
All these battery upgrades offer up to 300 miles of range on the 670-horsepower E-Tron GT or the 278-mile RS E-Tron GT performance. The gains of these numbers are between 29 and 51 miles on the old car, depending on the specification you choose. This is a big improvement in longevity, and since this new suspension is equally good at soft and soft, because it is sharp and exciting, the GT makes the wagon very good. I spent most of the day hanging out with a stroll from Las Vegas and I would be happy to do more miles without complaining.
But with all the power and processing, the GT is the happiest when it is pushed to its limit. The only challenge will also drive your budget. The 2025 E-Tron GT costs $125,500, while the RS E-Tron GT performs faster at $167,000. This means that all new battery technology and brain-building success rates have increased by about $20,000 to the car’s price last year. If you want all the toys, you will spend more.
Therefore, the RS E-Tron GT is expensive, but also impressive. We still have only ten years to see what high-performance electric cars can do, and it’s an engineering journey that will certainly take us to new heights in the coming years. But what this car can do today is excellent, the acceleration is so powerful that it is uncomfortable, the suspension is so high-end to dance, but all the comfort and balance that suits Audi.
