Authorities released more information about the hot crash that killed five people
San Diego (FOX 5/kusi) – Authorities released more information on a hot crash in Poway Tuesday night that killed five people on Friday afternoon.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office reported three vehicles occurred on Interstate 67 north of Iron Mountain Drive and east of Poway at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 18.

The Sheriff’s Department reported a Chevy Silverado Pickup truck heading north and drivers were conducting oncoming traffic at high speeds for investigation reasons.
The sheriff reported that the pickup truck collided with a white Honda Civic, one of whom was heading south on the SR-67, while a Toyota Tacoma with three insides could not stop and collided with the Honda Civic.

The force of the collision caused a car to ignite a small brush along the ravine along the highway, quickly flooding by firefighters, but severely damaged the vehicle.
The Sheriff’s Department reported that all five of the three vehicles died at the scene.

Detectives are investigating what caused the pickup to turn on oncoming traffic and are reviewing videos they received from passing Tesla that showed the pickup hit another vehicle in the traffic lane.
The family has since identified two victims – Marcial Rivera, 59, and his son Emmanuel Rivera, 32, and has established a gofundme and planned Sunday fundraisers, but the names of the other three victims have not been released by authorities.
