Brazilian authorities suspend airlines involved in last year’s crash 62

São Paulo (AP) – Embraer suspended operating permits from local airline Voepass on Tuesday, with safety risks continuing in an August crash that caused a crash of 62 people on board.

One of the company’s six planes crashed outside St. Paul because of ice piles installed on its wings. Brazilian authorities ordered changes in October, including increasing maintenance and changing managers’ time. Four months later, the update showed no improvement.

The Aviation Administration noted that “there is no power to resolve violations identified during the supervision process and the continuity of violations of previously determined conditions to operate within the required safety standards.”

It said the suspension will continue until airlines comply with regulations.

The company has no comment on the decision. Voepass offers regional flights in 15 cities in Brazil.

Investigators said pilots of the plane crashed in August reported that the system failed to remove ice from the plane. They carefully avoided calling this the cause of the accident and stressed the need for more investigations.
