BRUVI BV-01 Review: Biodegradable Pods, Quick Coffee

The machine works very quickly. It takes about one minute per cup, and it takes five seconds to heat the water and brew the cup. It took a lot of Christmas mornings, standing on my mom’s keurig and waiting for it to heat up so that all of us can fix the coffee and can brew quickly with Bruvi quickly brewing cups, which is a blessing I wouldn’t take for granted.
Finally, because of course, there is a smartphone app. It’s very simple, with brewing history, lower alerts, and quick ordering of B-PODs. But I like that you can use the app to schedule or start brewing 36 hours in advance. The app mimics the touch screen on the brewer itself (you can choose from the same settings) and can be scheduled to brew the cup at the selected time. I find myself not using it often because it takes less than two minutes to give myself a cup of coffee, but it is a nice feature that some people may like.

One thing to note is that once Bruvi needs to go down, you will eventually have To use it. After about 220 B-PODs are used, the Americano and 1 oz buttons on the touch screen will flash. This means you need to lower the machine as soon as possible. You can overwrite the alarm and brew about 5 liters (or 20 B-Pods), but after that, the brewer will no longer work until you complete the descent cycle. This makes sense considering how the landing retains the machine (and makes your coffee taste better), but if it annoys you and you want to run your choice of coffee machine to the ground like your God-given right, this winemaker is not for you.
Another thing to consider is the price of B-Pods. They can subscribe cheaply, or if you buy in bulk, but even on sale, most of the best-selling pods I find are about one dollar per pod. This is less POD than high-end machines like Xbloom (7/10, wired review), but more expensive than Keurig’s K-Cup. But for me, the trade-off of biodegradable pods is worth it, and so is the sheer speed of this brewing method.
The only annoyance I found was that the drip tray was filled quickly. This is because the BRUVI BV-01 once the B-Pod is placed in the waste bin (I do it after every brew), it emits a little water. Of course, the reason for this is to make sure the needles are clean and your coffee tastes great, so I really don’t get mad.
All in all, the BRUVI BV-01 is an accurate, great winemaker who can drink a good, strong coffee in less than a half minutes. If you are like me and sometimes just want your caffeine fixation without having to deal with a kettle, coffee grinder, coffee filter and beauty, then this is the machine you want. (But you can’t own mine because it stays on my counter. Sorry, Instant Pot, but you’re downgraded.)
