Cameron Young leads PGA Tour’s suspension Windham Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Cameron Young birdled twice in a row, leading defending champion Aaron Rai before storm clouds on Friday at the Wyndham Championship, stuffing his tee at 16 and 16 feet into six feet.

The second round will resume at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, with the third round starting with three-pointers from Sedgefield Country Club.

Young is considered one of the best players not to win on the big tour, twice in the final hour of the big tournament. He has seven runner-ups on the PGA Tour, including the British Open in St Andrews.

Young’s par 14. Rai won his first PGA Tour title a year ago at the Wyndham Championship, and he was under 13 and just missed the 14th place green.

Mac Meissner’s 63-shot low seven shots, while Sungjae Im shot at 128 and 128 from the morning round. Mark Hubbard hit 66, another shot. Hubbard needs at least three tie to make the playoffs.

The Wyndham Championship was the last game of the regular season, with the top 70 entering the considerable playoffs.

The 36-hole cut is 4 years old – if the score is poor when the game resumes on Saturday, it may be 3 times, meaning players like Adam Hadwin and Zach Johnson are over some seasons.

Max Homa is under 1, has five holes to play and desperately needs birdies and then spend a big weekend to avoid missing the playoffs.

Adam Scott ranked 85th in the FedEx Cup, under 4 and playing the 15th hole.

In the FedEx Cup, Young was in No. 40 without such concerns. He is playing Greensboro – he earned his economics degree from Wake Forest – based on ambitious goals. First take part in the Tour Championship and get as much Ryder Cup consideration as possible.

Young grew up in New York – his father was a long-time head of Sleepy Hollow – and he has hovered over the Ryder Cup since the U.S. PGA announced it would be on Bethpage Black on Long Island.

Even with a win this week, Young can only reach No. 15 in the standings. After the BMW Championship, the top six are automatically eligible for three weeks.

“For me, it’s not necessarily this week. I’ve got a goal. In mid-September, I want to play in New York for the Ryder Cup team.” “If I can achieve that, I can achieve a lot in the next four weeks. So, I’m trying to keep that in mind, not a little thing along the way.”

“Not that winning games here isn’t very rare, but I think, looking away in this way, I think it’s just going to help me keep working hard to trust my work and build some confidence in the process.”

Meissner ranked 152nd and had to win the promotion. At the end of the fall event, it is still in the top 100 to keep the card at risk.

Gary Woodland filmed the shot of the day, which was a 5-5-shot 7-iron on the fifth hole, a rare Albatross 2.

“I’ve been doing well for a while and my coach Randy Smith has been bothering me to stay patient and just trying to shoot the shots I need and have fun,” Woodland said. “The hardest part may be a little fun when you don’t get the results you want.

“I’m much better than I was a year ago, so try to enjoy a little bit. It’s nice to see some go in today.”
