Limited strikes affecting the Deutsche Postal Service continue
Service Unions announced that the strike action to support the compensation needs of Deutsche Post Logistics will continue to select warehouses in Germany until Friday and Saturday.
Wildi said the temporary shutdown would affect letters, parcels and bulk delivery services.
Verdi called workers at parcel centers across the country during the night Tuesday to Wednesday, and a separate temporary strike hit the delivery and service points on Thursday.
Verdi chief negotiator Andrea Kocsis said workers showed companies that they expected much more than they would have offered through such expanded limited strike action.
She said Germany’s second-largest coalition has about 1.9 million members and the Deutsche Post is expected to raise its offer in the fourth round of negotiations next week.
Verdi demands a 7% increase in new contracts for 170,000 postal and logistics workers, part of the DHL Group. It also calls for additional paid leave to make up for the increased workload.
Deutsche Post will offer 1.8% initially, then another 2% in a 27-month contract.
The dialogue between the two sides will enter their fourth round on Monday. Verdi has called for a duplicate temporary strike in recent weeks, resulting in delivery.
