Chris Perkins of Dungeon & Dragons leaves the wizard on the coast

28 years later, long-term Dungeons and Dragons Designer Chris Perkins revealed he has quit the company and retired from the Coast Wizard.

Perkins said Friday that he was leaving for a “perfect fairy tale ending…I can’t wait to enjoy D&D purely as a fan because I know the game is good.” His retirement comes after the 50th anniversary of TTRPG and recently released rulebooks, which he said was “doing rape.” Before that, he quit D&D Product Leader after the launch of the Dungeon Master Guide in October 2024.
