Colombia’s defense minister vows to recover 29 kidnapped law enforcement officers

BOGOTA (AP) – Colombian Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez on Saturday condemned the recent kidnapping of 29 law enforcement officers in the southwestern part of the country and said the government is working to release them.

28 police officers and a soldier were kidnapped in a violent attack in the El Parkindo area on Friday.

The attack was blamed on supporters of an armed group called Carlos Patiño, whose members are dissidents of the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia who disagree with the 2016 peace agreement with the government.
