Confusing is building a browser, partly to collect customer data for targeted ads
AI companies made it build its own browser in February called Comet. In the nearest TBPN Podcast, CEO Aravind Srinivas, has some idea of why the business seems to branch out of its AI focus: It is the reason why it collects user data and sells target ads.
“This is one of the other reasons we want to build a browser, and we want to get data even outside of the app to get a better understanding of you,” he said. “We plan to use all the context to build a better user profile, and maybe you know, with our discovery feed, we can show some ads there.”
If this sounds familiar, you can become Google’s Chrome browser to take a similar approach. In fact, Comet was built on Chromium, the open source browser foundation of Google. This is not to say that confusion won’t take this opportunity to go directly to the source and get Chrome after Google’s recent online search. At the ongoing hearings about Google and it, Chief Business Officer Dmitry Shevelenko, he believes that confusion will be able to continue running the browser at its current scale. Not surprisingly, he is not very passionate about hotels.
