Cristobal del Solar, Thorbjorn Olesen shares open leadership in Canada

Caryden, Ontario – Cristobal del Solar took part in the Cohen Ferry Tour under the nickname “Mr. 57”. He flirted with 59 at the Canadian Open at Royal Bank of Canada on Thursday afternoon.

Two holes left in the 70-scroll layout, Del Solar Bogey left two holes in the 4th 17th position and ranked the 5th below 5th 18 to score below 61 and took a portion of the first round lead of Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen.

“I just want to play well,” Del Solar said. “I just want to stay here and have fun. That’s what I’m going to do.”

PGA Tour rookies Del Solar and Olsen, 31, from Chile, took advantage of soft green on the TPC North Toronto field in Toronto, north of Toronto, on Wednesday night.

Del Solar scored the lowest in the first round of the Astara Golf Championship in Colombia in February 2024 in the PGA Tour approved match, but he earned the nickname “57” in February 2024.

Del Solar had seven birdies with eight holes in the middle of the round on Thursday. The former Florida State player scored a 6 1/2-foot birdie putt in the 3rd 14 and ran 15 1/2-foot to 10 with 15 16 15.

On the 17th, he hit a green space bunker on the right, blew up 10 feet, missing the PAR putter on the right. He needs the 18-year-old Hawk 59 and drives into the rough on the left and hits the second yard at the green second yard.

“I just want to do every shot,” Del Solar said. “I think everybody gets the lead sometimes and thinks of the results or anything else. You just want to go out and play golf.”

Olesen caught the 18th hole (his ninth) and had eight birdies and bogeys on the court that hosted the first national championship.

“Obviously, I played great, but today my putts were excellent,” Olson said. “Don’t think I’ve really missed any putts. I’ve definitely made some long putts, too. It’s nice to see everything come in.”

Olesen will hit a 15-foot birdie putt on the final hole in Lambton, Toronto next week at the Oakmont Open.

“I took a lot from the last putt,” Oresen said.

The afternoon starter ranked in the top 8 out of the top 18, 15 of which, Masters champion Rory McIlroy bogey in the last two holes in the morning of 71.

“I missed a few greens and didn’t let them cut up and down, especially those few holes,” McIlroy said. 2019 Hamilton’s game champion McIlroy said he won the 2022 championship in St. George.

Del Solar and Olesen in the third round of St. George’s in 2010, Carl Pettersson succeeded in 60 games in 2010 and was named to Justin Rose in the fourth round of 2022, and also St. George’s.

Cameron’s championship shot 62, Jake Knapp’s 63, Rasmus Hojgaard, Shane Lowry, Trey Mullinax and Ricky Castillo were 64 years old. Knapp shot 59 from the field in March in the first round of the classic.

Canadian Taylor Pendrith is 65 years old with defending champion Robert MacIntyre. Alex Smalley, Paul Peterson, Danny Willett, Rafael Campos, Kevin Yu, Alejandro Tosti and Paul Waring. McIntyre won last year in Hamilton.

Oakdale’s 2023 champion Nick Taylor of Canada opened with a score of 66.
