CSUDH Announces Alternative Job Fundraising Resources

On February 25, California State University Dominguez Hills informed campus employers that the university used nearly all of its Federal Work Research (FWS) funds this academic year. The article expanded the notice, which mistakenly stated that the campus is terminating student employees.

Csudh is fully committed to ensuring that our FWS students receive the expected bonuses. Administrators have identified alternative funding sources to compensate these students, including university scholarships and funds, and to fund as appropriate for those who are eligible and if needed.

Since each student employee and department is in different situations, this will be a complex task. Currently, the university is asking the department to postpone any employment-related decisions on affected student workers until financial aid staff provides more details.

Looking ahead, CSUDH is implementing new internal controls for FWS recruitment and tracking to meet expected FWS needs. We will also host FWS training to support employers and timekeepers who will recruit and manage FWS.

Csudh deeply appreciates the patience and collaboration of our campus community, while we address this issue quickly and fairly for all affected students.

Sincerely,
