Days of Our Lives: The Worst Storylines of 2025 – The Horrible Episodes Fans Hated and Can’t Stand!

days of our lives It’s been a roller coaster of storylines this year, but let’s be honest, there have been some not-so-thrilling storylines. Beau Brady (Peter Recker), Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) were all a part of these bad plots.
Stephanie’s erotic novel Days of Our Lives
So, number one, the first bad plot point I want to talk about is Stephanie Johnson’s (Abigail Klein) smutty book. I have no problem with Alex Kiriakis’ (Robert Scott Wilson) girlfriend writing a sexy book. not at all. It’s as good as a soap opera. What they did with Stephanie’s book is crazy. If you have a Kindle tablet or app, you know that there are tens of thousands of romance novels out there, many of them as raunchy as you can imagine.
A plot like this might have been somewhat relevant back when there weren’t tons of dirty lady books online fifty shades of gray It first appeared many years ago as a unicorn. This is a rare thing. Today, this is commonplace. You can spend a buck or two on erotic e-books, or pay $12 a month to read all the sexy romance novels you want on Kindle Unlimited. No, I’m not advertising them, but I do have Kindle Unlimited so I know how cheap it is since I’m a voracious reader.
The Ridiculous Plot to Save the Titans in Days of Our Lives
Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) Claims Stephanie’s Most Slutty Book “A stormy night,” can save titan It’s crazy. Like really crazy. But somehow, it just happened. Xander Cook (Paul Telfer), Philippe Kiriakis (John Paul Lavoisier) and Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) are all involved. The book was a huge success. Stephanie then revealed her identity as Anastasia Sands. This is a big event.
Then Stephanie changed genres and wrote a mystery book titan Count on keeping them afloat. So our multi-billion dollar empire is collapsing. It’s underpinned by a sordid romance novel. I mean, come on. Even Alex, as beautiful as he is, wouldn’t be stupid enough to believe that, right?
Honestly, it’s also especially gross that Stephanie’s parents, Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans), read aloud from her pornographic books and try sexy things out of them. I have to tell you, the thought of that is absolutely disgusting, especially since Stephanie is writing about her own sex life. So disgusting. Which is another reason why this is a terrible episode.
Abe Carver gives controversial coaching on son’s bullying on DOOL
Secondly, another really problematic plot point in 2025 involves Abe Carver (James Reynolds) coaching high school bully Liam Celeko (Hank Northrop), his son Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews). We see Theo being devastated when he finds out Abe is handing over his time to his tormentor Liam. But Abe assured his son that he was only trying to help Liam become literate in the hope of rehabilitating the young man who had fallen into crime.
Abe is tutoring Liam as part of a plea deal after Liam is arrested for stealing a car. And then, I think, Abe has a meeting with Liam, and then he goes to the park and tries to steal Carter Green’s (Annalyn McCord) handbag because he’s broke and has a kid. The story seems to introduce Liam, who is related to a minor character from the past, as part of Abe’s boring storyline. I guess I wonder if they were trying to do some kind of soap opera about adult literacy and how it relates to crime.
If that’s their purpose, I don’t think it’s very clear. Most importantly, when Abe finds out that Liam tortured and bullied his son Theo, he should have brought in someone else to tutor the guy. Alternatively, Abe could swap out Liam, work with another Mentor’s people, and give him his people. In doing so, he betrayed Theo. I don’t like it. I find this disgusting.
Marina’s Baffling Lyme Disease Diagnosis and Daytime Queen of Night Mystery
Number three on our list of bad episodes of 2025 are all of Marina’s weird moments. The writers brought back queen of the night This year’s story has a whole bunch of hints. Rachel Blake (Alice Halsey) and Marina are reading “One Thousand and One Arabian Nights“, Stefano DiMera (played by Joseph Mascolo) used this book to control Marina’s mind.
If you remember, she dreamed about Stefano and the whole queen of the night obsessed. They shot those flashback sequences with Marlena. And then there were all the hints about Stefano. They have Susan Banks (Stacey Haiduk) saying that something is mentally wrong with Marlena.
Mind you, no one wants that plot either. They don’t want to see Marina queen of the night. They didn’t want to see her possessed by a demon. Then Marlena was suddenly diagnosed with Lyme disease. I mean, it’s serious, yes, but not as dramatic as past traumas in Phoenix.
Days of Our Lives: Red Flags from All Directions
It also means that all of these red flags and hints building up were either in vain, Marina wasn’t threatened by the new version of Stefano, or the Lyme disease was some kind of signpost leading to the plot.
If so, then the days we live in It dragged on for too long, especially for a storyline that no one wanted. The problem is they’re 10 months ahead of the show. So that means anything that fans hate, oh, too bad. There was no chance of a twist because it had all been filmed, almost a year ago.
Stefano 2.0 Preview: DiMera’s storyline goes nowhere
Speaking of Malina, that brings us to the fourth horrific episode of 2025. That’s Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) 2.0. There have been so many hints that they are bringing back some version of Stefano, someone with his memories, maybe like they did with Steve-No when they implanted Patch with his memories and bionic eyeballs and all. As a result, there are hints that EJ DiMera (Dan Ferrigal) and Dr. William Rolfe (Richard Wharton) are working on a new version of EJ’s (Dan Ferrigal) evil father.
There was a hint of Stefano. They intensify around the summer of 2025, July and August. They reach this high point. As I mentioned before, Marina queen of the night dream. we have Arabian Nights thing. Plus, there are plenty of references to Stefano from his family, and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gerin) fills in the Phoenix stuff in Cats. Susan then said at home that she felt Stefano was there.
Then they suddenly changed course. There seems to be a woman in that mysterious tube. Now I don’t know if Ron Carlivati was planning on writing a new Stefano and then he got fired and the new writers kept working on it for a while because the script was done and then they changed directions. I agree with them not bringing back any version of Stefano. But what I don’t like is that they’re wasting our time pretending this could happen.

Beau and Hope return to Days of Our Lives: A disappointing plot device for John Black’s tragic exit
To me, the worst episode of the year was bringing back Beau and Hope Brady (Christian Alfonso) just as tools to kill John without giving us a meaningful payoff. From what I understand, the writers faced a huge challenge due to the fact that Derek Hogestyn was terminally ill in real life and then died. He died of pancreatic cancer in September 2024. But because the show’s recording schedule was ahead of schedule, they actually filmed John Blake’s death in September 2024. sky He gave the storyline the green light while Drake was seriously ill but still alive. Of course, the character’s death aired on June 2, 2025, long after the actor’s death.
True to John’s loyal character, when he went in to obtain the drug Versix to save Bo’s life, he died from injuries sustained in a drug lab explosion. Hope went with John to help get the medicine, but he was the one seriously injured. They have kept Bo in a coma since 2023, with no urgency or interest in rescuing him. Then all of a sudden, they gave him severe sepsis.
Beau went dark
This is frustrating because if you remember when Poe came back after waking up in the spin-off series Beyond Salem, we were promised that Hope and Poe would be reunited. They PR about it. They publicized it. And then we didn’t get the reunion because Bo had lost his mind as Kiriakis. Sean Brady (Brandon Beemer) then shoots Beau when he threatens Hope with a gun. Then we finally get reunited, but only as a plot device that leads to John’s death, and Bo and Hope don’t stick around.
Bo and Hope did remarry in June 2025 in a private ceremony. That was a few weeks after John died. Tying Bo and Hope’s romantic reunion to John’s death was a little cringe-worthy to me. Then to the dismay of long-time fans, they left town after that. But at the same time, many fans are happy with it. So, there’s disagreement about that. I just didn’t like it because the reunion seemed to be just for the sake of John Blake’s death happening.
We’ll see what happens in 2026, since by now all of Ron Kalivati’s storylines are supposed to be dead and gone, rather than resurrected like other characters. I will say that I really enjoy his writing general hospital, i did days of our lives For a long time, but then things started to get really bad. Then he left.
