Delta pilots perform “aggressive action” to avoid B-52 collision

According to Delta pilots, Delta jets in Minnot, North Dakota conducted “aggressive action” to avoid air collisions with B-52 bombers.

“Suddenly, it’s really hard to pick on us – we just keep making more turns and more turns, he made the announcement and said, ‘Sorry, everyone, once we landed safely, I’ll explain everything,” passenger Monica Green told ABC News after the July 18 incident.

The flight operated by Skywest has departed from Minneapolis. Once it reached the ground, the pilot apologized to the passengers, apologized to the passengers, and explained the situation.

“Given his speed… I don’t know they’re walking much faster than we do. I think it’s the safest thing to turn it around,” the pilot said. “I’m sorry for the aggressive moves, which is not normal at all. I don’t know why they didn’t let us look up because the Air Force Base does have radar… Long story short, it’s not very interesting, but I do apologize for it, but I apologize for it and thank you for your understanding. Not fun at work.”

It is unclear how close the two jets are to each other or whether the cockpit alarm has been activated to warn the pilot of a potential collision. Minot is home to an air base with B-52 bombers.

“We are aware of recent reports of commercial and air force aircraft operating in the airspace around Minot International Airport. We are currently investigating the matter. We can confirm that the B-52 aircraft assigned to the Minot AFB conducted a North Dakota Friday night flyover in North Dakota on Sunday night.”
