Do it for the Bay: Kayla Thornton and Tiffany Hayes

When everyone starts to stride forward, the energy is clear. “We are building the foundation for a great team, a great organization,” Hayes said. “It’s just the beginning. Our journey can take us to the extent we want and I don’t think we have any ceiling for this group, so [there are] Endless possibilities. ”

“We came in and defined the culture we wanted,” Thornton responded. “The most important thing is to be a selfless team for me. That’s the main thing because when you’re selfless, everything else falls in place.”

Their pre-season showdown with Sparks lands on the wires, instantly showing the world that Valkyrie is more than just a promising group. Every game since then brought improvements: tightening defenses, falling shots, and growing chemistry.

Thornton shared her assessment so far in reflecting on their season: “I expected it to be good, but it’s not going well now. I think our expectations are far ahead, which is great.” She praised everyone on the coaching staff and the participants, adding: “The pieces we sorted out, we know each other.”
