The sport’s Fabian Ardaya initially reported that Taylor had been designated as a task, with several other members of the Dodgers defeating noted that Taylor had no lockers in the team’s clubhouse today, but the deal was released directly, rather than the Taylor to-do list of DFA Limbo. Since apparently no team would ask Taylor to exempt and bear the rest of the salary, the Dodgers chose to make the contact more quickly.
Taylor came to the Dodgers in June 2016, sending Zach Lee to the Mariners as the return of the radar trade. Taylor was a useful utility infield work in Los Angeles for the rest of that season, but until next season, Taylor suddenly made 21 home runs in 568 regular season cricket games, until next season, Taylor suddenly hit .288/.354/.496 and then won NLCS MVP honors to help the Dodggers win the World Series. In the 2021 season, he continued to deliver above-average numbers before re-signing with the team in a four-year, 60mm free agent deal, which also included the $12MM club option in 2026 (and the 4mm acquisition).
Things are different after a large long-term deal is reached. Taylor hit .265/.343/.461 over 2382 PA from 2017-21, but that production pumped to a .222/.307/.369 slash line over 1119 PA since Opening Day 2022. A decrease in playing time naturally followed, and by this season, Taylor had become a sparingly used bench piece on the star-studded Los Angeles roster, appearing in 28 games but with only 35.
Although his struggles over the past few seasons have damaged the Dodgers’ tenure, Taylor has no doubt succeeded in the past decade. Taylor became a poster kid of the Dodgers’ ability to get great results from previously unconquered players, and his ability to play on diamonds makes him a valuable utility choice. Taylor has played at least Rs 174 as a shortstop, second baseman, left fielder and midfielder, and he has also run a lot of time in the right field and in third base. His NLCS MVP Award and two World Series rings were highlights of his playoff career, with Taylor Bat making 266 appearances in 266 playoff games.
