Easter egg’s “Doctor Who” is filled with “Robot Revolution”

Doctor WhoThe second season at Disney+ started on Saturday the “Robot Revolution”. This season revolves around new companion Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) – the latest is the latest tradition of tardis boarding the unwilling (or “kidnapping”) companions on Tardis.

But it’s just the surface level of an episode, which contains all the striking tributes of all the shiny novelty, and the true story of changing Belinda’s name behind the scenes. Let’s dig!

How Belinda named after her.

The International Celebrity Registration is one of many real-life companies that claim to provide naming rights for objects in space. Given that its services have been used to name the stars of Elizabeth II, Charles III and Princess Diana, the American company is now perhaps more well-known in the UK.

So popular, WHO Show host Russell T Davies told Mashable that they had to change her name three times to find one of the registry: “She was originally Belinda Finch!”

Belinda’s once boyfriend Alan used a fictional version of the service to name her a star, revealing “missed”.

But, in fact, regardless of the suspicious effect of the registry name, there are stars (and the surrounding habitable planets and their colonists) named after Missbelindchandra and asking her to become the queen of the planet? That’s worth Douglas Adams’ plot twist. This is perfectly appropriate because…

Belinda’s costumes are a tradition in science fiction (and Doctor Who).

Belinda Chandra hasn’t (yet) pulled the planet off from Earth (yet) before they had the chance to get rid of their robes and PJs. That would be Arthur Dent this The Galaxy Guide to the Hi-Ride Guide (played by Martin Freeman in the movie, playing Simon Jones in the radio and television series). Unlike Belinda’s dress change in the next episode, Arthur’s robe becomes his entire adventure in time and space.

since Free rider Author Douglas Adams was also Doctor Who Script Editor, the show is referenced to Arthur’s pajamas that seem appropriate, which is the playback of two episodes. Check out the clothes the doctor wears when Christmas begins “World Joy”; it does not exactly match Arthur’s robe, but is obviously a kind of tribute of love.

These robots look familiar.

Robot’s 1950s-style rockets (very similar to those that appeared on the first Disney+ Doctor Who The 2013 special “Star Beast”) and the robot itself may spark memories among new and old fans.

The top story of chaos

The emoji-like face of the robot is somewhat similar to the deadly robot in “Smile” (2017), which is also placed on the planet of space colonizers of its machine. “Smile” is also a new navigation in external space WHO Companion – In this case, Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie), a friend of the 12th Doctor (Peter Capaldi).

Older fans may also find a storyline reminiscent of the “Death Robot”, (1977) a classic from the Tom Baker era:

We have seen the heart of a doctor before.

We have known doctors (and expanded every other Lord) since 1970, when the new third doctor (Jon Pertwee) was taken to the hospital and had an X-ray in “The Spearhead from Space.” Since then, we have learned how this strange physiology works. Capaldi’s doctor admitted in a “smile” that his two hearts meant his “real blood pressure”.

But when the doctor lifted the live X-ray blanket to show Belinda his heart, the amazing scenes are the third time we have actually seen them since “Spearhead from Space” (the others, also X-rays, were all in the 1996 TV movie, Christopher Eccleston starring Paul McGann and 2005 story “Dalek,” and their first playback, we actually saw Beatsing. This is good news for anyone Whovian cardiologist who wants to check a doctor’s blood pressure problem!

This is not the first time a doctor has encountered AI.

Oh, have you been worried that the out-of-control self-aware AI has taken over the planet over the past few years? Try for 59 years. Doctors have been dealing with self-aware machine intelligence since “Gears of War” (1966), when his first incarnation (William Hartnell) defeated Wotan, representing the idea simulations run by Will. Not as lively as “AI”, but you get it.

Doctor Who It wasn’t until “Diet in Heaven” (2014), when Missy (Michelle Gomez) told “AI interface” to “Please delete your opinion” that the word “AI” was really used. But the words or acronyms from eight stories since then have made up for wasted time.

Belinda is not the first nurse on TARDIS.

Belinda Chandra may have decided to call herself a “nurse” in the style of a doctor, but she is not the first professional member to travel with him in time and space. That would be Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill), who traveled with his wife Amy Pond and the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) in the early 2010s.

So, Rory shouldn’t notice what Belinda frightened at the end of the Robotic Revolution – a sound screwdriver scanning without her consent violated basic medical principles? Different eras, different motivations, WHO Show host Russell T Davies told Mashable; Rory was mainly “focused on fighting for the love of a good woman.”

Meanwhile, at this stage, Belinda only knows what she does: “She will sign a non-disclosure agreement everywhere,” Davis said, noting that it is the first time any kind of consent discussion on the show. “What’s cute at that moment is that she pushed the doctor toward an apology. It’s not something you get often.” (Factory check: correct.)

We’ve seen Belinda’s face before.

Why do doctors scan Belinda’s DNA? To confirm his intuition is that she is the ancestor of the future soldier in the episode “Boom!” last season. That would be Mundy Flynn, who also played by Varada Sethu.

Will DNA connection matter as the doctor learns about his mysterious new reluctant partner? Or is it the only thing we mentioned about the double casting that seems completely accidental? Stay on TARDIS to find out.

Doctor Who Season 2 premieres on Disney+ and the BBC on April 12.
