Apetito service plans new frozen meal facility in the UK

Apetito, a German-based frozen meal business, plans to establish a new manufacturing plant in the UK.

The plant will be located in the existing Apetito plant, located in Trowbridge, a small town in Wiltshire, southwest England. It will be built on land occupied by the company’s so-called pie site, which is closed by the end of 2024, according to a statement.

Apetito also operates a catering service for people in the UK called Wiltshire Farm Food, and he said there will be no change in the current Trowbridge Factory, which is also located on Canal Road.

The facility employs 670 employees, which is part of the UK workforce, with about 2,000 employees.

A spokesperson for Apetito told Just food When approaching details of the extension of the capability and the number of new jobs.

However, the publication has asked Apetito to clarify the plants that the business operates in the UK and overseas, and when it will work on new projects.

Apetito is a private company established by the Dustberg family in 1958. Headquartered in Rheine, Germany, the business entered the UK in 1991 and offers a range of frozen ready meals for hospitals, schools, nurseries and nursing homes.

According to the leadership of the group’s CEO Dr. Jan-Peer Laabs, the Apetito Group generated 1.3 billion euros (US$1.4 billion) in sales in 2023 and employs more than 12,700 people in its international operations, including the UK and Denmark including Denmark, Austria, the Netherlands, the Netherlands, the United States and Canada.

The group’s combined sales revenue has grown from 1.03 billion euros in 2020 to 1.09 billion euros in 2022.

Lee Sheppard, director of corporate affairs, policy and sustainability at Apetito and Wiltshire Farm Foods in the UK, said in a statement that local growth has led to demand for Trowbridge expansion, which claims the company claims to be the largest “private” employer.

Plans for the new website have been drawn, submitted to the Wiltshire Planning Office for approval.

“It’s very important for us to build a world-class, recycled manufacturing plant for Trowbridge, a facility that matches our commitment to reaching net zero in 2040,” Sheppard said.

“Our goal is to create one of the most sustainable food manufacturing facilities in the UK.”
