The next year, in 2023, the family gave fans a further update, sharing his “more specific diagnosis” of frontotemporal dementia (FTD), for which there is no treatment or known treatment.

“Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has evolved and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (called FTW),” Moore, Emma and their respective daughters wrote in a statement. “Unfortunately, the challenge of communication is just a symptom of Bruce’s face. Although it’s painful, ultimately having a clear diagnosis is a relief.”

In 2023, in honor of her husband’s 68th birthday, Emma described Bruce as “pure love.”

“He is pure love. He is so love. I always love him. Happy birthday, my sweetness,” wrote via Instagram at the time. “My birthday wish for Bruce is that you continue to let him pray and the highest vibration because his sensitive Pisces soul will feel it. Thank you so much for your love and care for him.”

At the time, she was open to her Instagram story, and she was crying all morning because of her husband’s diagnosis and ongoing health struggles.

“Sometimes, in our lives, we have to wear big girl underwear and do it, and that’s what I’m doing,” she explained. “But I have sad moments every day, sadness every day, and today I really felt it on his birthday.”
