Dishored Clip wrongly claims Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyatta announces new bid for presidency
Former Kenya President Uhuru Kenyatta retired in 2022 after two terms. As the country prepares for the 2027 election, Tiktok claims Kenyatta announced he will run for president again. But the claim is wrong; the audio used is AI-generated, and the video begins in 2022, when the former leader spoke to the nation after the Supreme Court upheld its successor’s victory.

The clip has been shared over 2,000 times, indicating that Kenyatta made a speech from behind the presidential seal’s speech.
Kenyatta said: “Kenyans, Kenyans, in 2027, I will fight for the president. I have decided to go all out to go back to politics. Goodwill, I want to ask you to vote when the time comes,” Kenyatta seemed to say.

In both videos, Kenyatta can be seen standing behind the same podium, wearing a navy blue shirt with a flag in the backstage.

In the segment of the original video used in the Tiktok clip, Kenyatta actually said: “Kenians, Kenyans, on August 9, 2022, Kenyans participated in an election that attracted new leaders at all levels in the field of government.”
He has not talked about running for office in 2027.
