Fire in Brazil’s homeless shelter kills 4 people

Rio de Janeiro (AP) – Four people died Monday after a fire broke out in a shelter of homeless people in a city in southeast Brazil on Monday.

A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene, the statement said.

The case was registered as arson, a homicide, and attempted homicide with the judicial police of San Jose Dos Campos, who requested evidence.

The statement said that earlier on Monday, the San Jose Dos Campos had all 22 people. Eight people were injured.

The ladies of the suffering nonprofit who run the shelter expressed “deep grief” on the fire.

“There is preliminary information that the fire is arson, which further increases our pain and desire for justice,” it said in a statement on social media.
