Fisherman found alive after drifting on the sea for more than 90 days

A Peruvian fisherman was found alive after 94 days of drifting at sea because he was discharged from the hospital after his ordeal, a naval official said Saturday.

Maximo Napa, 61, was found on Tuesday by an Ecuadorian ship on the coast of Chimbote in northern Peru and was rescued on his small fishing boat.

He told local media in a tearful interview that he survived the sea by eating cockroaches, birds and turtles.

“I don’t want to die for my mother. I have a two-month-old granddaughter – I hold on. Every day I think about my mother.”
