Former Russian President Medvedev compares Germany’s Melz with Goebbels

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev compared Germany’s next prime minister, Friedrich Merz, with former Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels.

Medvedev, now vice-president of the Russian Security Council, said Merz “already lay down like Goebbels in a post on Thursday’s telegram.

“You’re not a good start, Fritz!” Medvedev wrote Medvedev, using derogatory Russian terms for the Germans.

He also said he hoped Meles would be defeated like Nazi Germany in 1945.

Comment after Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a “war of aggression against Europe” on Melz’s claim in the German parliament on Tuesday highlighting a hybrid attack on European infrastructure and disinformation campaigns.

Myers’ claim during the vote was to pass constitutional reforms to fund German defense spending in response to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Medvedev served as President of Russia from 2008 and 2012 and served as Prime Minister.

He has regularly publicly criticized Western leaders since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

German think tank declares “bad”

Also on Thursday, Russia declared the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) think tank a “bad” organization.

The move was announced by the Moscow Attorney General’s Office, which said DGAP has discredited Russia’s foreign and domestic policies.

Prosecutors accused the prestigious institute of supporting sanctions against Moscow and military and economic aid to Ukraine.

This category is related to the prohibition of Russian activities.

Russian experts working with think tanks may be punished by law.

Since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict, the Russian judiciary has classified many German organizations as unpopular, including the German Historical Institute in Moscow and the German Eastern European Research Association.

DGAP aims to shape debates about German foreign policy.
