France pumps funds into Oriental Air Base to deal with nuclear weapons bombers

To show the increasing security nerves in Europe, France has renovated aerial bases in remote hills in the country’s eastern so that it can handle nuclear weapons bombers.

The work will take a decade, but starting in 2035, the Luxeuil-Saint Sauveur base will be twice as high as it is now, and it will house a new generation of hypersonic missiles, 50 carried by France’s Rafale Fighter Jets.

President Emmanuel Macron announced at the base in March – on the day when U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the Ukrainian war – it will be the first air missile to welcome the latest Rafale jets and French ASN4G nuclear capability.

Luxeuil will be the fourth but most modern base in France that can store nuclear weapons.

The base currently has about 20 Mirage-200,000 jets, no longer in production.

According to Colonel Emmanuel Roux, the base commander, its triangular hangar dates back to 1952. Rooks said they had seen photos of President Charles De Gauler there in 1962.

“I like building a cathedral”

The hangar will go because the raincoat will not fit them. “We will have to redo everything for infrastructure,” the colonel said.

The gusts are also heavier than the Rage Building in Haishi, so the Luxeuil’s runway must also become longer and stronger.
