Funeral ceremony for the founder of Slimming World
To celebrate the service of Slimming World founder Margaret Miles-Bramwell’s life.
Last month, Mrs. Miles Bramwell died at the age of 76 at home in Mallorca, Spain.
Cortege passed through the company’s headquarters in Somercotes, Derbyshire, near where she began in 1969, and then continued to Derby Cathedral.
She provided services in 2009 for the health and charity work of the British public.
Guests were asked to observe traditional black and white dress requirements and invited donations to British charitable descent.
According to the company, Slimming World began in 1969 in a church hall in Alfreton, Derbyshire, but expanded to a network of more than 3,500 consultants and about 700,000 members.
She was named Businesswoman of the Year at the 2023 National Business Women Awards and received honors among the 100 Influential Persons in 2025.
“She’s happy to be around,” said Ruby Parsons, a senior stylist in the world of hair and beauty, in Somercotes.
“Don’t get me wrong, it’s disturbing – but it’s not because she makes you feel like you, but because you want to please her.
“She is everything to us, she is not only the boss, she is a friend.”
