Germany’s Deutsche Welle Broadcasting Corporation welcomes new editor-in-chief
Germany’s Deutsche Wel (DW) will be led by the new editor of January, the state-funded international broadcaster said on Monday.
Mathias Stamm will replace Manuela Kasper-Claridge, who retired after 30 years at DW and served as editor-in-chief for five years.
The 43-year-old Stamm, who has been at DW since 2008, is currently leading the broadcaster’s strategic restructuring.
Deutsche Welle is funded by the German state but operated independently of the government.
Unlike ARD, ZDF and Deutschlandradio broadcasters, the organization is not funded by licensing fees, but is directly subject to tax revenue.
According to DW, the company has 4,000 employees in about 140 countries in 2024.
Its German offices in Bonn and Berlin.
