District Judge Allison Burroughs granted a preliminary ban Friday to Harvard University to challenge the Trump administration’s efforts to prevent college admissions. This is the latest development about the ability of more than a quarter of Harvard students to continue enrolling.
The ban prevents the Department of Homeland Security from depriving Harvard of its student exchange and visitor program certification until Burroughs issues a final ruling in the lawsuit. It did not speak from President Donald Trump’s execution statement earlier this month, banning the State Department from issuing visas to international students and researchers at Harvard University; temporary restrictions on the ban expire on June 20.
Burroughs has not issued a ban on the Trump administration’s second attempt to revoke Harvard’s SEVP certification for the second time, which could take effect if she refuses to take further action, as Harvard asked.
