Henderson, Hsu take Team World to International Crown semifinals

GOYANG, South Korea — Canada’s Brooke Henderson and Taiwan’s Hsu Hui-ling defeated Sweden’s Madeleine Sagerström and Ingrid Lindblad 4-3 on Saturday to qualify for the world team in the International Crown semifinals.
The victory gave the World Team three wins and two draws in the LPGA Team Event at New Korea Country Club and a fourth point in Group B.
In the subsequent match, Sweden’s Maya Stark and Lynn Grant defeated Team World’s Charlie Hull and Lydia Coe 3-1.
The Australian team in Group A and the Japanese team in Group B also advanced to the semi-finals.
“I’ve been waiting for the World Team for a long time and I’m so grateful to be a part of this team,” Henderson said. “It’s been an incredible opportunity so far. I love the guys I have here. [Wei-Ling] Helped me a lot here today and she’s been playing great all week. This was so much fun and I’m so excited for tomorrow. “
Entering Saturday’s final four-ball match, the United States has advanced from Group A to the semifinals after winning its first four four-ball games.
According to the competition format, seven countries and one “Rest of the World” team will compete in two groups. Participating teams and players are determined by the Women’s World Rankings.
The top two national teams in each group advance to Sunday’s semifinals and finals, which include a foursomes match (alternating shooting) and two singles matches.
Sei Young Kim won the BMW Women’s Championship in South Korea last week. The LPGA Asia Tour continues next week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and concludes in Shiga, Japan, from November 6-9.
