Here’s how to claim a $100 Apple Siri settlement

In January, Apple Agree to pay $95 million to resolve the class action lawsuit as its voice assistant Siri listens in a private conversation. Now, affected users have less than eight weeks to claim it as a small portion of cash.

this Lopez V Apple The lawsuit was filed in December, accusing Apple of private conversations caused by accidental activation and then sharing the data with third parties. Two plaintiffs claimed that after private discussions with doctors, they had a personal conversation with a specific brand, and they provided medical ads to them after having a personal conversation with a specific brand.

This is not the first time Siri has been accused of eavesdropping. The whistleblower spoke with Guardian in 2019, claiming that the external contractors who assessed Siri’s effectiveness could listen to everything from criminal transactions to sexual intercourse.

Apple stopped using these third parties soon after, and when resolving the case, Apple also denied all illegal activities here. An Apple spokesperson told Wired in January that “Siri data was never used to build marketing profiles and was never sold to anyone for any purpose.”

That said, Apple obviously still wants the lawsuit to go away and (in the settlement) owns the owner or buyer of Siri-backed devices that have experienced unexpected Siri activations in private conversations and may be eligible for a fee of up to $100. Each person can submit a claim for up to five devices.
