Honda global vehicle output fell 9% in Q1
Japanese automaker Honda Motor reported a 3.4% drop in global productivity to 329,664 units in March 2025, down from 341,092 units in the same month last year, mainly due to a 4% drop in overseas production to 268,510 units, while Japan’s number is slightly below 61,154 units.
In the last financial year (FY2024), from April 2024 to March 2025, Honda’s global production fell by 11.5% to 3,644,066 units from 4,117,870 in the previous year, with output in Japan dropping by 2% to 692,593 units, while overseas sales fell by 13.5% to 2,951,473 units.
Outside Japan, production in Asia fell 28%, to 1,243,970 units in fiscal 2024, while production in China fell more than 34% to 768,288 units, while production in North America was slightly higher than 1,608,441 units, despite U.S. production of 988,756 units, despite a 4% drop in the U.S.
In the first quarter of 2025, the company produced 883,362 vehicles worldwide, down more than 9% from 972,291 a year ago, with domestic production just below the previous 168,849, while overseas production fell 11% to 715,179, from 804,122 units to 715,179.
In the first quarter of 2025, vehicle production in Asia outside Japan fell to 23% from 369,263 to 284,975, down from 25% of China’s output to 162,393 and a 25% drop from 216,812. During this period, North America’s production fell 3% to 405,074 units, down from 416,663 units a year ago, and U.S. production fell from 258,688 units to 242,695 units.
