The film also deletes the book’s important sub-picture: a complete exploration of Ende’s relationship with his brother Peter and his sister Valentine. These relationships are central to Ende’s development in the novel, emphasizing his emotional cost of isolation and his struggle with violent tendencies. In the film, these relationships are hardly explored, and although Abigail Breslin does a good job as Valentine’s Day, the emotional bets of Ende’s personal life are greatly overlooked.
Breaking through the parts
Production value The game of Ende It is top-notch with stylish visuals, futuristic and impressive special effects. The movie has a grand look, with its CGI heavy battle sequences (including simulation-style training sessions) visually striking. Maybe it might feel more, but the look of the movie works great.
However, the pace of the film undermines its ability to convey the emotional depth needed to convey such complex stories. When the book comes with time to build Ender’s character and explore his thoughts, motivations and moral dilemmas, the film runs through key moments.
The time spent on combat simulations and training montages can be used to explore the emotional and philosophical foundations of Ende Action. Instead, the audience leaves behind a series of disconnected, increasingly move scenes that fail to bring about the gut bouncing that makes the novel so compelling.
