Word Lab is the new word game for us as teachers

In our teachers, we are always looking for new ways to make learning more fun, interactive and somewhat magical. Whether it’s clever hands-on activities or stupid games to attract the brain, we all think that games have a strong position in education.

We know about game-based learning works. Research shows that learning through games leads to deeper understanding, more enthusiastic engagement and stronger skill development. From critical thinking to social and emotional growth, game-based learning helps students grow. Such studies have conducted research on young children’s learning and STEM results showing how powerful it may be.

For some time, we have been dreaming of building interactive games. Simple and easy to use. You can use it as a warm-up, transition, or just for quick ingestion of joy.

So we asked the teacher: What kind of game do you want?

A few months ago, we brought this question directly to our audience and the answer was clear. You want one Word Game.

We went to work immediately. We brainstormed, built prototypes, removed some ideas, and brought new ideas. We then tested it with real teachers and students and did it. After a lot of feedback and fine-tuning, Word Lab born.

Meet the text laboratory: Daily challenges at all levels

Word Lab It is a daily word guessing game where players can choose from 3 letters, 5 letters or 7 letters words. Your goal is to guess the word using color-coded tips:

  • Blue = correct letters in the correct position
  • Yellow = the wrong position correct letter
  • Red = not in the word at all

If you want a challenge, there is an optional timer and sometimes there is a theme that can make things interesting.

Games for teachers and the entire class

Initially, it was just something for the teacher. Start every day quickly in the morning or end after lunch. But almost immediately, the teacher told us they wanted more. Not only do they like to play it on their own—they want to use it with their students, too.

So we leaned. We adjusted the levels, added topic words, and invited classrooms to help us with the test. When they finally guessed the 7-letter word together, we cheered loudly with a third-grade class.
